Set to be unveiled this Thursday in Bratislava, Slovakia, alongside
the regular facelifted Superb, the Scout will get a raised ground clearance
and, in all likelihood, some plastic cladding on the bumpers, wheel arches and
door sills, as well as all-wheel drive.
Like the rest of the Superb lineup, the Scout will
use the full LED Matrix headlights with incorporated DRLs and Coming/Leaving
home function. The taillights have dynamic indicators as previewed by the Czech
automaker in a previous teaser. Elsewhere, expect bumper revisions and SUPERB
lettering in the middle of the tailgate.
The latest video released by Skoda offers a glimpse
of the new Laurin&Klement range-topping variant, which adds a bunch of
exclusive items, including soft-touch materials and special L&K badges, and
a generous list of standard gear. A new infotainment system with standard
smartphone integration is also part of the model’s mid-cycle refresh.
The biggest change made to the facelifted Superb
will be the addition of a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The brand’s first PHEV
should have a zero-emission driving mode with up to 50 km of range
and the unit is thought be the the one used in the Volkswagen Passat GTE, which
has a total output of 215 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque and
combines a 1.4-liter turbocharged four with an electric motor.
