The Toyota 86 has a new addition for 2020. Named after one of the greatest
driving roads in the world, the 86 Hakone Edition is based on the 86 GT and is virtually
identical to the JDM-only 86 British Green Limited. It features an
eye-catching green paint job which is contrasted by a black spoiler and 17-inch
wheels with a bronze finish.
The sporty styling continues in the cabin as the
Hakone Edition has two-tone leather and Alcantara seats which are separated by
a matching armrest. Drivers will also find a Toyota 86 logo embroidered on the
dashboard as well as tan contrast stitching on the steering wheel, parking
brake and shifter. Last but not least, there’s a special trunk mat with an
embossed 86 logo.
Since the model is based on the 86 GT, it comes
nicely equipped with LED headlights and a dual exhaust system with chrome tips.
Other highlights include a dual-zone automatic climate system, heated seats and
an anti-theft system. Buyers will also find cruise control, a push button
ignition and a remote keyless entry system. As a special bonus, owners will
receive a pair of tan key gloves and a folio cover with a debossed 86 logo.
Like the standard model, the Hakone Edition has a
2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer engine that produces up to 205 hp and 211 Nm of torque. It can be connected to either a six-speed
manual or a six-speed automatic.
The 2020 Toyota 86 Hakone Edition will go on sale in
the United States this fall and pricing will be announced closer to launch.
However, we can expect the car to cost slightly more than the 2019 86 GT which
starts at US$ 29,355.
