The Abarth 595 lineup lives on for another model
year, with the 595 Esseesse sitting at the top of the range. Available in two
body styles for the UK called 595 Esseesse and 595C Esseesse, it starts from
£ 25,295 (US$ 32,701/€ 29,289) and £ 27,295 (US$ 35,933/€ 32,183). In return for paying the
equivalent of what you would for a new VW Golf R-Line, customers get plenty of
updates over other 595 versions.
Aside from the 180 PS 1.4-liter
turbocharged engine, there is an Akrapovic exhaust system, BMC air filter,
mechanical limited slip differential, Koni FSD front and rear suspension and
Brembo brakes.
Identifying the Esseesse (Italian pronunciation of
‘SS’) are the Abarth stripes, 17-inch Supersport alloy wheels and a few other
features. It also comes with redesigned ‘Sabelt 70’ sports seats with carbon
rear shell and carbon pedals, as well as the 7-inch Uconnect HD infotainment
system with Abarth Telemetry, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, all of them
offered as standard.
Celebrating Abarth’s 70th anniversary is a special
model in Competizione spec, although all 595s have been fitted with special
badging.
The 2019 595 family also includes the regular 595
and 595C, the 595 Turismo and 595C Turismo and 595 Competizione and 595C
Competizione. The first two have 145 PS, the Turismo gets 165
PS and the Competizione offers as much as the Esseesse,
namely 180 PS. Pricing kicks off from £ 16,495
(US$ 21,324/€ 19,099) and goes up to at least £ 23,795 (US$ 30,762/€ 27,552) for the
595C Competizione.
These models add more standard kit, such as the
Brembo brakes, Record Monza exhaust with active valve control and 7-inch
Uconnect system with smartphone integration in the Competizione. The mid-range
Turismo has been enhanced by the Urban pack, with its dusk-sensing headlights,
rain-sensing wipers and parking sensors, whereas the base 595 doesn’t miss out
on the basics either and also comes with a flat-bottom steering wheel with
crosshairs insert.
