The Audi S4 is following in the footsteps of the
diesel-powered S5, S6 and S7 by getting the same oil burner. Introduced in
Europe, both the S4 Sedan and Avant are powered by a 3.0-liter V6 TDI. The diesel unit delivers 347 PS at 3,850 rpm and 700 Nm of torque between 2,500
and 3,100 rpm, aided by an electric-powered compressor for quicker acceleration
and a mild hybrid system that improves efficiency.
Audi says the four-door model has a combined fuel
consumption of 6.2 l/100 km (45.6 mpg UK / 37.9 mpg US) and 163-161 g/km of CO2
emissions, whereas the estate drinks 6.3 l/100 km (44.8 mpg UK / 37.3 mpg US)
on average and has carbon dioxide emissions of 165-164 g/km. The official 0-100
km/h acceleration is 4.8 seconds in the Sedan and 4.9 seconds in the
Avant, and top speed is limited to 250 km/h in both models.
Visually, the two cars gets a sporty body kit along
with S4 badging, quad exhaust pipes incorporated into the rear diffuser and
larger wheels. Body hugging sport seats, exclusive trim and other items can be
found inside. Further details including equipment range, availability and pricing
for European countries should be released shortly.
