Zotye USA has confirmed that the first model to
arrive in the US market will be the next T600 compact SUV. The next-generation Zotye T600,
which was previewed at the Shanghai Auto Show with a concept, is scheduled to
arrive in the market by the end of 2020 or during the first quarter of 2021,
according to the US arm of the Chinese car maker.
Zotye will follow the T600 with a midsize crossover
and a sedan but the company didn’t provide any dates or further details about
them.
Back in January, the Chinese carmaker announced its
agreement for 19 new dealerships, with the company adding that they have
dealers signed up for more than 80 sales points. The company expects to have
around 300 sales stores up and running when the new T600 goes eventually on
sale.
Officials didn’t mention any powertrain details, but
at the Shanghai Auto Show they revealed an in-house designed turbocharged
2.0-liter GDI petrol engine with 200hp, paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch
transmission. Other reports suggest the use of a turbocharged 1.6-liter petrol
unit paired to a six-speed automatic.
