Honda Motorcycle
and Scooter India has introduced a new Limited Edition Honda Activa 5G. This
special edition scooter is available in 2 new dual colour options - Pearl
Precious white with Matte Selene Silver and Strontium Silver Metallic with
Pearl Igneous Black.
The Honda Activa 5G Limited Edition is mechanically
the same and relies on cosmetic changes to stand apart. The visual changes
include black wheel rims, chrome muffler cover and a blacked-out engine. Honda
designers have also added a contrasting colour to the grab rail. The footboard
and seat come with a black and brown colour option depending on the front apron
colour.
Honda has been facing stiff opposition from the
competition and its volumes have seen a massive drop in recent months. In fact,
the Hero Splendor has overtaken the Honda Activa once again as India’s largest
selling two-wheeler. Bringing out limited edition versions of a model helps in
increasing the sales of a model and Honda hopes to get its inventory off the
shelf. Powering the Honda Activa 5G is a 109.19 cc air-cooled engine. The
powerplant is capable of producing 8 BHP of maximum power and 9 Nm of peak
torque. The scooter has a ground clearance of 153 mm and a fuel tank of 5.3
litres. The Limited Edition Honda Activa 5G tips the scales at 109 kg.
The features list includes a mix of digital and
analogue instrumentation, LED headlamp, Eco Speed Indicator, service due
indicator and 4-in-1 lock with seat opening switch. Telescopic front suspension
and external fuel filler cap are still unavailable in the Honda Activa 5G. Several media reports suggest that
Honda is testing the updated Activa 6G with a telescopic suspension. The Activa
6G will most likely also feature a fuel injection system to meet the upcoming
BS-VI emission norms. The Honda Activa 5G Limited Edition is priced at INR 55,032
(ex-showroom, Delhi). That’s a nominal premium of INR 400 for the cosmetic
changes.
