Honda 2Wheelers India has launched the Limited
Edition Honda CB Shine. The motorcycle has a few cosmetic differences, but
mechanically, it's the same. The Limited Edition Honda CB Shine is available in
two new dual tone colours - Black with Imperial Red Metallic and Black with
Spear Silver Metallic. It has a corresponding body colour grab rail and new
graphics. Honda 2Wheelers India says that is has a new “modern side cowl and a
bold dual tone tank with stunning decals”. However, that’s just a new
stickering job. Something which the company has been doing often to gives sales
a boost.
The Honda CB Shine,
the country’s highest selling 125 cc motorcycle, has been experiencing a steep
drop in sales. The entire Honda line-up has been experiencing a drop in sales
since the hike in insurance prices. The CB Shine dropped to a low of around
30,000 units in the month of March 2019. Volumes recovered in April to more
than 84,000+ units but that was nowhere close to 1 lakh + units sold in April
2018.
The industry is
gearing up for a major shift with the upcoming BS-VI emission regulations in
April 2020. Motorcycles and scooters are expected to shift to a fuel injection
system from the traditional carburetted fuel supply. The launch of the
limited-edition model can be seen as an inventory clearing method.
Powering the Honda
CB Shine Limited Edition is a 124.73 cc air-cooled mill. Coupled to a 4-speed
gearbox, this engine can produce 10.16 BHP and 10.30 Nm of torque. Key features
include an optional front disc brake, low maintenance seal chain and tubeless
tyres. The Limited Edition Honda CB Shine has been priced at INR 59,083* (drum
brake variant)/INR 63,734* (disc brake variant). It is INR 300* costlier than
the regular model.
