If you ask die-hard gamers what would be the perfect
environment for them to indulge in a prolonged gaming session, chances are they
won’t be mentioning the Mitsubishi L200 pickup truck. They might change their minds however
once they see this L200 eSports Concept, which is essentially a racing
simulator on wheels. Unveiled in the UK at Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse
Trials 2019, the one-off truck is a heavily modified L200 that comes complete
with many amenities for video game lovers.
Those include two Logitech G920 Driving Force Racing
wheels (each complete with a pedal box and gear shifter), two Xbox One
consoles, and the Forza Horizon 4 driving simulator. All of them are
accommodated in the now covered pickup bed, which also features two racing
seats and two curved 24-inch LED screens. That’s not all: the rear area also
includes a coffee machine and refreshment bar.
Based on a standard, pre-facelift Mitsubishi L200,
the unusual show truck has had the chassis extended by 800 mm and
widened by 80 mm to enable it to house a twin gaming area. The rear
tailgate has been heavily modified as well and now includes a set of fold-down
steps for easier access to the gaming area. All of these gadgets are powered
by a roof-mounted 150-watt solar cell which charges four 105Ah deep-cycle
leisure batteries. A full charge is enough for up to eight hours of playing
time.
Besides the strange-looking custom rear compartment,
the L200 eSports Concept brings unique exterior tweaks such as the Speedline
Mamba alloy wheels in metallic rose gold fitted with large off-road tires,
extended wheel arches, a roof-mounted LED light bar, as well as rose gold
badging, grille inserts, and decals. The custom truck is also fitted with two
22-inch LED screens on the outside of the rear compartment to allow onlookers
to keep track of the game progress.
The design for the L200 eSports Concepts has been
submitted by Joanne Tulloch of Livery Dole Mitsubishi in Exeter. Her design won
the inaugural “Truck King Battle” contest for Mitsubishi dealers organized by
Mitsubishi Motors UK and was made a reality by Ralph Hosier Engineering which
also built the L200 Barbarian SVP.
