The Range Rover Sport has become more accessible
with new, 2.0L petrol engine derivatives priced from INR 86.71 lakh*. Last
month, the executive SUV was priced from INR 1.04 crore*. The Range Rover Sport’s new 2.0L
petrol engine is a Si4 turbocharged four-cylinder unit from the Ingenium
family. It produces 300 PS at 5,500 rpm and 400 Nm of torque at
1,500-4,000 rpm. An 8-speed automatic transmission is standard. An AWD system
is standard, too. It comes with a single speed transfer box; a two-speed box
isn’t available as an option or even as a part of a package.
The Range Rover Sport 2.0L petrol can accelerate
from nought to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. Its top speed is 201 km/h. The smaller
capacity engine can be had in all three equipment lines offered in India: S, SE
and HSE. The 3.0L TDV6 diesel (258 PS/600 Nm), 4.4L SDV8 diesel (340 PS/740 Nm)
and 5.0L V8 Supercharged petrol (575 PS/700 Nm) engines are still available.
The 3.0L V6 Supercharged petrol engine (340 PS/450 Nm) is no longer included in
the spec sheet, which could mean that it has been discontinued.
All the engines of the Range Rover Sport are
equipped with Stop/Start technology and regenerative charging for enhanced fuel
economy. In other latest news, the locally assembled Range Rover Velar is now
on sale, with prices starting at INR 72.47 lakh*.
