As Royal Enfield
continues expanding the global footprint of its new flagship range, the 650
Twins, Indonesia has become the latest market to have received the Interceptor
INT 650 and the Continental GT 650. The Interceptor INT 650 is available at IDR
184.8 million, while the Continental GT 650 retails at INR
194.3 million - both OTR Jakarta prices.
Before Indonesia,
Royal Enfield introduced the 650 Twins in Vietnam, earlier this month. The
Interceptor INT 650 modern-retro roadster and the Continental GT 650 café racer
are currently on sale in India, US, UK, Australia, New Zealand and Thailand as
well. Royal Enfield designed and developed the 650 twins for the global
markets, and the exports have shown positive results since their launch last
year. Royal Enfield has increased their production to 4,500-5000 units per
month to address the high demand.
To grow even more
strongly in the ASEAN region, Royal Enfield will open its first overseas plant
by the second half of the year. Located in Thailand, this facility will see
assembly from CKD kits sourced from India. Moreover, the company is considering
assembling the 650 twins in Brazil. Earlier this month, it entered South Korea
with an exclusive store in Seoul. In March, it added a new outlet in Hanoi,
Vietnam.
Royal Enfield is
currently testing the next-generation models before the production commences
later in the year. The all-new BS-VI compliant Classic and Thunderbird
motorcycles have been spotted somewhere near the company’s plant in Chennai.
The next-generation products will use the company’s new architectures – J, P, Q
and K. The company is preparing new accessories as well.
