Hero MotoCorp today launched a new fully-faired
version of the Xtreme 200R - the Xtreme 200S. The Hero Xtreme 200S has been
priced at INR 98,500*, which is approximately INR 7,600* more than the price of
the Xtreme 200R (INR 90,900*).
To give you a quick recap, the Xtreme 200S, the
fully-faired version of the Xtreme 200R naked roadster, retails at INR 98,500*.
In comparison, the Xtreme 200R retails at INR 90,900*. The Hero Xtreme 200S
will rival the Suzuki Gixxer SF and the Bajaj Pulsar 180F in the domestic
market.
The Xtreme 200S shares its chassis, engine,
suspension and brakes with the Xtreme 200R, but it packs several more features
over the naked roadster. The headlight, for example, is a full LED unit on the
Xtreme 200S, while the Xtreme 200R comes with a conventional halogen unit. The
cockpit features a full-digital instrument console instead of a semi-digital
unit on the Xtreme 200R. Also, the fully-faired version's instrument console
offers Bluetooth connectivity for turn-by-turn navigation. The design of the
exhaust is also different.
The full fairing with a tall-windscreen provides
relief from windblasts, which will come handy at highway speeds. The upright
ergonomics, along with the full fairing, should give the Xtreme 200S decent
touring prowess. The Hero Xtreme 200S can be purchased in three colour options
- Sports Red, Mapple Brown and Panther Black.
Powering the Hero XTreme 200S is a 199.6 cc
air-cooled, single-cylinder, 2-valve, SOHC engine with a carburettor that
delivers 18.4 PS at 8,000 rpm and 17.1 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. A
fuel-injection system will be introduced with the BS-VI upgrade by March 2020.
The engine is paired with a five-speed constant mesh gearbox. Conventional
telescopic front forks and an adjustable monoshock perform the shock absorption
tasks. Single discs on both wheels provide the stopping power, while the safety
net of single-channel ABS comes as standard.
The Hero Xtreme 200S will compete with the likes of
Bajaj Pulsar 180F and Suzuki Gixxer SF in the domestic market.
