The Tata Tiago has received an update for enhanced safety.
Some existing features have been made standard, and also, some new safety
features included as standard have been introduced. These additions have been
done to meet the AIS-145 safety norms which will become effective on 1 July
2019.
The Tata Tiago is
available in XE, XM, XT/XTA, XZ/XZA and XZ+ grades. Dual-front airbags, rear
parking sensors and driver seatbelt reminder have been made standard now. ABS
with EBD & CSC was already standard. Speed alert system and front passenger
seatbelt reminder have been introduced as new safety features, and they are
included in all the equipment lines. The safety update has resulted in the
prices going up by close to INR 13,000. The prices now start at INR 4.40 lakh
(ex-showroom, Delhi). The updated feature list and prices are yet to be
released on the product's website.
The Tata Tiago is
available with a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine which churns out 86 PS
and 114 Nm and a 1.05-litre three-cylinder diesel engine which produces 71 PS
and 140 Nm. A 5-speed manual transmission is standard, while a 5-speed
automated manual transmission is available optionally, albeit with only the
petrol engine. By March 2020, the petrol engine will get upgraded to conform to
the BS-VI emission norms but the diesel engine will be discontinued. A recent
