Ford India has launched the 2019 EcoSport, with
prices starting at INR 7.69 lakh*. The updated range includes a 'Thunder
Edition' costing INR 10.18 lakh* onwards.
The recently launched Hyundai Venue is off to a
blockbuster start which has forced many automakers including Ford to rejig
their B-segment offering. A few days ago, Maruti Suzuki introduced the Sport
Edition Vitara Brezza, and now Ford has launched the EcoSport Thunder Edition.
Also, Ford has increased localisation in the EcoSport to bring down its prices.
The Ford EcoSport Thunder Edition sports new 17-inch
alloy wheels, black-painted front grille & rear-view mirrors, darkened
headlamps, black fog lamp bezels, dual-tone bonnet and decals on doors. The
sporty theme is carried over inside with ample use of cognac accents on various
elements, including front seats, door inserts, instrument panel and centre
console. The interior highlights include a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment
system with built-in navigation, dual-tone leather upholstery with contrast
stitching and an electric sunroof as well.
The Ford EcoSport Thunder Edition can be purchased
with either the 123 PS 1.5L three-cylinder TiVCT petrol engine which delivers
fuel efficiency of 17 km/l or the 100 PS 1.5L TDCi diesel engine with fuel
economy rating of 23 km/l. A 5-speed manual transmission is standard.
Ford will replace the EcoSport in India with an
all-new SUV co-developed with Mahindra. The made-for-India EcoSport successor,
however, is still at least a year away. Back to the existing model, the prices
have been slashed marginally.
