The 2019 Hyundai
Santro will soon see some revisions related to the trim and equipment on offer,
a leaked internal document sent to a dealership has revealed. The Era trim will
be discontinued, and at the same time, the base, D-Lite trim will be replaced
by a new Era Executive trim.
Unlike the D-Lite
trim, the Era Executive trim will include AC, which is a very basic feature,
especially for a Hyundai model. The company desires to be seen as a
modern-premium brand after all. Unlike the old trim, the new trim features
body-coloured front bumper, dual-tone body-coloured rear bumper and front power
window as well. The Magna petrol MT and Magna CNG MT configurations will gain
new features like a 2-Din audio system with front speaker and USB and Bluetooth
connectivity, steering mounted audio controls and micro antenna.
The Sportz petrol
AMT configuration will gain a co-passenger airbag, rear parking camera and
front seat belt pre-tensioner. All the other configurations will remain the
same. The Sportz petrol MT will remain deprived of additional safety of a
co-passenger airbag, rear-parking sensors and rear parking camera.
The tall-boy
hatchback runs on a 1.1-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that is available in
petrol and petrol-CNG variants. Running on petrol, it delivers 69 PS of at
5,500 rpm and 99 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm. Switching to CNG, the
maximum power and maximum torque delivered at the same respective engine speed
changes to 59 PS and 8.6 kg.m (84.34 Nm) respectively. 5-speed manual and
5-speed automated manual are the transmission choices, but the latter is available
with only the petrol variant.
Hyundai will
allocate the updated Santro after the current model is sold out. The company
may price the updated model up to INR 15,000 higher. For reference, the current
model's prices start at INR 3.90 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
