Maruti Suzuki launched the 2019 Ignis earlier this
year in February. With that update, the hatchback received several new safety
features which make it compliant to the upcoming safety norms and hence
eligible for sale in India post 30 June 2019. Soon, the company will give it a
facelift, as per a new report from GaadiWaadi.com.
Maruti Ignis touched 1 lakh sales milestone last
month, and it accounts for over 3,000 units sales every month, which isn't a
very promising figure for a Maruti Suzuki A-segment model. The company is
hoping to boost sales with the facelift. The new Ignis will be updated with a
refreshed front fascia. It will be given a Vitara Brezza-inspired front grille
with U-shaped ring designs. Silver skid plates will increase the car's
ruggedness. Also, some other minor tweaks will be brought to the front.
The
rear-end too will be updated adding freshness over the current design.
On the mechanical front, Maruti Suzuki will also
update the BS-IV K12M 1.2-litre petrol engine to conform to the new and
stricter, BS-VI emission norms. In the current form, this naturally aspirated
four-cylinder petrol engine delivers 61 kW (82.94 PS) of maximum power at 6,000
rpm and 113 Nm of peak torque at 4,200 rpm. The transmission options of 5-speed
manual and a 5-speed automated manual transmission will be carried over. 20.89
km/l is the fuel economy rating currently.
The 2019 Maruti Suzuki Ignis is currently available
in 9 colour options: Nexa Blue, Glistening Grey, Silky Silver, Pearl Arctic
White, Tinsel Blue and Uptown Red, Tinsel Blue with Peak Arctic White, Tinsel
Blue with Midnight Black and Uptown Red with Midnight Black. Its price
currently starts at INR 4,79,372* and extends up to INR 7,14,993*.
