In April this year, Maruti Suzuki had launched BS-VI
Alto. Now, the company has launched its CNG variant, with prices starting at
INR 4.11 lakh*. The CNG variant of the BS-VI Alto is available in only the mid-spec
LXi and LXi (O) equipment lines, priced at INR 4.11 lakh* and INR 4.14 lakh*,
respectively. To put things in perspective, the CNG variants cost INR 60,000
more than the corresponding regular petrol-powered variants of the Alto.
The Maruti Alto's F8D 796 cc three-cylinder engine
(BS4) pushes out 48 PS of maximum power and 69 Nm of peak torque running on
petrol. The maximum power and maximum torque drop to 41 PS and 60 Nm
respectively on switching to CNG. The output figures of the BS6 version aren't
made available yet. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
Inside, the Alto CNG gets features like power
steering, air conditioning, front power windows, silver interior accents,
retractable rear seatbelts and rear child locks. Features like remote boot and
fuel lid opener are also available on the car. The LXi (O) grade comes with a
passenger side airbag, which the LXi doesn't offer.
The price of the non-CNG Maruti Alto starts at INR
2.93 lakh* and goes up to INR 3.71 lakh*.
