Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to give the Ignis a
facelift. Based on the information revealed in media reports, IAB's digital
artist Shoeb Kalania has come up with a rendering to preview the facelifted
Ignis. With a yearly update in February, the Ignis received some important
safety features which make it compliant to the AIS 145 safety norms which come
into effect on 1 July 2019.
The Maruti Ignis will receive a refreshed front
fascia with the facelift. The most prominent change will be in the form of a
new radiator grille with U-shaped ring designs inspired from the Maruti Vitara
Brezza. The rendering shows a newly designed lower bumper at the front, new
alloy wheels, body coloured rim tapes, and more black cladding to enhance the
ruggedness as well. While the front-end and sides could have such minor
changes, the rear-end may remain completely unchanged. Inside, expect the new
SmartPlay Studio infotainment system to replace the SmartPlay infotainment
system.
Under the hood, the facelifted Maruti Ignis will
have the BS-VI K12M 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 83 PS at
6,000 rpm and 113 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm. The transmission options will
remain the same: 5-speed manual and 5-speed automated manual. The BS-VI upgrade
will likely lead to a change in the fuel economy rating, which currently stands
at 20.89 km/l.
Maruti Suzuki sells the current Ignis in 9 colour
options including the Nexa Blue, Glistening Grey, Silky Silver, Pearl Arctic
White, Tinsel Blue and Uptown Red, Tinsel Blue with Peak Arctic White, Tinsel
Blue with Midnight Black and Uptown Red with Midnight Black. The prices range
from INR 4,79,372-7,14,993*. The facelifted model will be slightly pricier.
