Peugeot has
officially launched the new-gen 508 SW in the United Kingdom in four grades
(Active, Allure, GT Line and GT) and the limited-run First Edition. With a
£ 26,845 starting price, the base model features automatic
headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, electric driver’s seat-base and lumbar
adjustment, DAB radio, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, smartphone
integration and Connected 3D Navigation with live updates as standard.
The Allure will set
you back at least £ 28,145 and adds active suspension, keyless
entry&go, Active Blind Spot Detection, Smartbeam Assistance, 180-degree
reversing camera, 10-inch touchscreen display and electrically adjustable front
seats.
Next comes the GT
Line, with a £ 29,895 MSRP and extra gear such as
self-levelling LED headlights, 3D signature taillights, ambient lighting and
active speaker technology that enhances the sound of the engine through the
audio system, while the GT is priced from £ 38,020 and gets
Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Positioning Assist as part of the Driver
Assist Pack Plus, Nappa Mistral leather seats, Focal sound system and 19-inch
two-tone wheels.
If you want the 508
SW First Edition, then you’ll have to hurry up and make a deposit because only
75 units are allocated for Britain. They carry a sticker price of £ 40,819 and add the (segment-first) Night Vision tech, which can spot
pedestrians and animals up to 200 meters ahead of the headlights and
alert the driver via the 12.3-inch instrument display panel, plus the Visio
Park 3, with a 360-degree camera system and automated parking assistance.
The 2019 508 SW is
available with a 1.6-liter PureTech turbo four, petrol in 178 HP or
222 HP, that is mated to an eight-speed auto transmission. Peugeot
hasn’t given up on diesels and is offering its mid-size estate with two units –
an 128 HP 1.5-liter that, in the base Active trim, is the sole version
available with a six-speed manual, and a BlueHDi 2.0-liter with 158 HP or 178 HP, both of which are offered exclusively with the eight-speed
auto. All engines are Euro6.d-temp compliant and, according to Peugeot, have
“best in class” CO2 emissions that range from 101 to 132 g/km.
