The all-new Chevrolet Trailblazer has been confirmed for North America a few days ago but the smaller Tracker SUV will remain a China-only affair. 

Just launched in China at Auto Chongqing 2019, the Chevy Tracker packs the latest eighth-generation Ecotec engines. There are two turbocharged units on offer, the Ecotec 325T and Ecotec 335T. The entry-level 1.0-liter Ecotec 325T three-cylinder engine is known from the recently-unveiled Chevrolet Onix sedan on which it makes 123 hp and 180 Nm of torque. The power plant is available with a six-speed dynamic start/stop shift (DSS) automatic transmission or a six-speed manual gearbox.


The Ecotec 335T is a 1.3-liter turbocharged three-pot that makes 162 hp and 240 Nm of torque. Mated to a new CVT, the engine enables the Tracker to sprint from 0 to 100 km/hin 8.9 seconds. The claimed average fuel economy is 5.7 liters per 100 km (41.2 mpg US) for the bigger engine and 5.1 l/100 km (46.1 mpg US) for the 1.0-liter unit.

Tech-wise, the Tracker features Chevy’s new MyLink+ infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Baidu CarLife, and Bluetooth connectivity. The interface offers smart navigation and an upgraded intelligent speech recognition function as well.


As for safety, the subcompact SUV packs several technologies including Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Pedestrian Collision Mitigation (PCM), Forward Collision Alert (FCA), Following Distance Indicator (FDI), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), and Lane Departure Warning (LDW). A Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and reverse camera are also offered. Available in six variants, including four Redline models, the Chevrolet Tracker ranges in price from RMB 99,900 to RMB 139,900 (US$ 14,500-US$ 20,250). Deliveries start in the second half of this year.
