The ‘Challenger’ is a new high-spec version of the
Mitsubishi L200 Series 5 pick-up truck, and is available to order now starting
from £ 27,705 for the manual version, and £ 29,105 for the
automatic. It is based on the L200 Warrior and you can get it in one of three
colors (white, grey and black). Sales for this special edition truck will continue in the UK, despite
the new L200 Series 6 model hitting the market this autumn.
The new Mitsubishi L200 Challenger boasts black
17-inch alloy wheels and bespoke black detailing on the front grille, front
bumper, fog lamp surrounds, wheel arch extensions, side steps, door mirrors,
door handles and the rear bumper.
Inside, there’s matching black leather, an electric
driver’s seat, heated front seats, a 7-inch Smartphone Link Display Audio
system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, DAB digital radio and
an integrated reversing camera. Meanwhile, all the following features come as
standard: keyless operation, bi-xenon headlights, LED DRLs, dual zone climate
control and automatic windscreen wipers. Same goes for safety systems such as
lane departure warning, hill start assist and trailer stability assistance.
As for what it can do on the road, the L200
Challenger comes with the automaker’s Super-Select 4WD system, allowing you to
shift between 2WD and 4WD at speeds of up to 100 km/h using a selector
switch. Power comes from a 2.4-liter turbo diesel engine, good for 180 PS and 430 Nm of torque. The Mitsubishi L200 Challenger is
said to be able to tow up to 3.5 tonnes and has a payload capacity
of one tonne.
