If you always wanted the Ford F-Series Super Duty
with a bit more off-road credibility, then great news as Ford has just
announced the new Tremor package. To be offered in the 2020 F-250
and F-350 Super Duty models, Ford’s new Tremor Off-Road Package adds new
hardware and tech to boost the pickup truck’s rough terrain handling. Ford
claims that this is the most capable off-road Super Duty they’ve ever offered.
The package includes things like a set of 35-inch
Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires mounted on unique 18-inch matt black wheels,
combined with a 2-inch front-end lift. This results into a 10.8-inch ground
clearance, as well as the best approach and departure angles of any Super Duty
ever – 31.65 degrees and 24.51 degrees respectively.In addition, the 2020 Ford
F-Series Super Duty Tremor comes with a best-in-class water fording of 33
inches.
The suspension utilizes new progressive-rate springs
along with custom and pretty massive 1.7-inch piston twin-tube dampers. A new
rear stabilizer bar is also present, along with a locking rear differential
with electronic shift-on-the-fly engagement and a front Dana limited-slip
differential. Other hardware changes include off-road running boards that can tuck
under the body, extended-axle vent tubes and the same beefy skid plates you
find in FX4 models.
The 2020 Ford F-Series Super Duty Tremor also comes
with an extra driving mode, called Rock-Crawl. This mode can be selected when
the 4×4 low is engaged. Tremor-equipped trucks offer a 53:1 crawl ratio when
powered with the 7.3-liter gas engine and a 44:1 crawl ratio with the 6.7-liter
diesel engine.
The new Tremor off-road package will become
available when Ford launches the 2020 Super Duty later this year.
