The 2020 Hyundai i20 has been
spied up close and the several details are clearly visible. The test mule was spied in a
fully camouflaged form, but it isn't hard to figure out that its overall shape
remains more or less the same. The third-gen model seems to have a similar
beltline, greenhouse and tailgate.
Changes clearly visible include new front
grille, sleeker ORVMs and absence of its rear quarter glass. The all-new model
will likely have LED headlights and tail lights as seen on the majority of the
new cars in its segment. The overall stance of the car remains wide and low,
quite similar to the present model. As seen in the past, new generations
Hyundai models tend to have a revolutionary design, and the same is expected
for this one.
In terms of interiors, the third-gen Hyundai i20
will likely be more feature-rich, have more comfortable seats and share some
elements like the steering wheel, floating touchscreen infotainment system and
the instrument cluster with the Hyundai Venue. This would save development
costs and contribute to more aggressive pricing. The next-gen Hyundai i20 is
also most likely to share the Blue Link suite connectivity application with the
Hyundai Venue.
The third-gen model will likely sit on an upgraded
version of the current model's platform. It is expected to be offered with
BS-VI 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine and BS-VI 1.4L turbocharged diesel
engine. These engines will likely be paired with a 5-speed MT, a CVT or a
6-speed MT.
