It’s time for a clearer look of the second-generation Rolls-Royce Ghost. While
it obviously draws inspiration from the Phantom limousine and Cullinan SUV, the
interior of the 2021 Ghost has its own style. The lower part of the dashboard,
including the center console, looks very similar to the aforementioned models.
However, the upper part looks more modern and
high-tech, with the layout of the center screen and the instrument panel
reminding of the widescreen cockpit seen in some Mercedes-Benz models. We’re
not 100 percent sure whether the instrument panel is digital but it certainly
looks like it. Normally, the round dial edges would suggest otherwise, but
that’s an arrangement seen in many BMW vehicles. The clock mounted near the
central screen is clearly analog, though.
On the outside, the 2021 Ghost continues to carry
plenty of camouflage as Rolls-Royce is not yet ready to give too much away
design-wise. Nevertheless, it’s pretty obvious we’re dealing with an evolution
of the current Ghost. Though it appears to have a sportier stance, the
silhouette remains largely the same, as does the layout of the doors which
continue to open in opposite directions.
The next-generation Ghost will adopt the common
Rolls-Royce platform inaugurated by the latest Phantom. Unlike the flagship
model, the Ghost is likely to feature all-wheel drive as well, at least as an
option. Given the new architecture, power is expected to come from the
6.75-liter twin-turbo V12 power plant that equips the Phantom and Cullinan.
There are also rumors of an all-electric version coming later on but they have
not been confirmed.
The adoption of the new architecture also means the
Ghost will benefit from all the safety and convenience features of its more
expensive siblings. Expect the second-generation Rolls-Royce Ghost to debut
sometime next year at a major auto show as a 2021 model.
