With only 19 units built, the DB4 GT Zagato is
arguably the most desirable Aston Martin model ever made. It’s also one of the
most expensive due to its exclusivity. As you may be aware, Aston Martin
has decided to build an additional 19 units as part of its Continuation
program. The company has just completed the first example, and will bring it to
the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2019 for its public debut.
The car will be on display at Aston’s VIP
hospitality facility at the Circuit de la Sarthe throughout the world’s most
famous 24-hour race. Craftspeople at the Heritage Division in Newport Pagnell spent around
4,500 hours building the first DB4 GT Zagato Continuation car. The vehicle is
finished in Rosso Maja paint matching the original color of the 1960s car. The
Borrani silver painted wheels and polished lips provide a nice contrast to the
body.
The interior is trimmed in Obsidian Black leather
which covers the pads in the carbon fiber race seats, the door cards, headliner
and rear environment. The cabin also includes black Wilton carpets bound in
Obsidian Black leather and stitched in matching Obsidian Black thread, while a
full, FIA-approved roll cage is standard.
Under the sculpted bonnet, the DB4 GT Zagato
Continuation features a larger capacity 4.7-liter version of the straight-six
found in the DB4 GT Continuation. Producing more than 390 horsepower, the
engine is mated to a four-speed manual transmission that drives the rear wheels
via a limited-slip differential.
The DB4 GT Zagato Continuation follows the success
of the 25 DB4 GT Continuation models Aston Martin sold in 2017 and precedes the
Goldfinger DB5 Continuation cars that will come to market in 2020.
The DB4 GT Zagato Continuation car will be bundled
with the DBS GT Zagato as part of the DBZ Centenary Collection, which costs £ 6
million (US$ 7.6 million) before taxes. Deliveries will commence in the third
quarter of this year for the DB4 GT Zagato Continuation and in the fourth
quarter for the DBS GT Zagato.
