The third generation Maruti Swift was launched with
significant updates in the form of exterior design, features and technology in
February 2018. The popularity of the B1-segment small car was such that its
sales crossed 1 lakh units in just 145 days of its launch. Today, it has
received a BS-VI petrol engine and safety upgrade.
The Maruti Swift's BS-VI 1.2L K12M petrol engine
churns out 83 PS at 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm. It
returns 21.21 km/l. The D13A 1.3L diesel engine is a BS-IV unit that produces 75 PS at 4,000 rpm and 190 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. Its fuel
economy rating is 28.4 km/l. 5-speed manual and 5-speed automated manual are
the transmission choices.
Since its launch, the Maruti Swift has been most of
the most desirable cars in the segment. Majorly targeted towards the younger
age group, it has proven its mettle time and again. In November 2018, it
crossed the 2-million sales milestone since its launch 13 years back. Now, it
is compliant with AIS-145 Safety Norms (both Petrol and Diesel). Driver and
front passenger seatbelt reminder, speed alert system and rear parking sensors
are standard now. The new stricter safety norms come into play on 1 July 2019.
The Maruti Swift is now pricier because of the
aforementioned updates. The prices now range from INR 5,14,000* to INR
8,89,000*. LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs, 15-inch precision-cut alloy
wheels, LED tail lamps, automatic climate control, leather-wrapped
flat-bottomed steering wheel and 7-inch Smartplay touchscreen infotainment
system are some of the feature highlights of the Maruti Swift.
