ABT Sportsline has
made the range-topping Volkswagen Amarok a bit more powerful. By installing
their engine control unit, the output of the 3.0-liter diesel V6 has been
increased by 48 PS and 50 Nm of torque.
Thus, the German
pickup truck now enjoys a maximum output of 306 PS and 630 Nm of torque. Power is still being channeled to the 4-Motion all-wheel
drive system through an eight-speed automatic transmission, but thanks to the higher
output the 7.9-second 0-100 km/h acceleration time has dropped by
two tenths, while top speed is 211 km/h.
The tuner has also
upgraded the rest of the range, with the 224 PS diesel-burner
now pumping out 265 PS and the 2.0-liter TDI, fitted to the
pre-facelifted versions of the pickup truck, gaining 20 PS, for
a total of 200 PS.
Despite the power
increase, ABT’s V6-powered Amarok remains stock inside and out. Nonetheless,
those into pickup trucks know that it can easily by distinguished over the
lesser versions, as it gets a sports bar finished in the same color as the
exterior, bi-xenon headlamps with LED DRLs and a set of 20-inch ‘Talca’ wheels
with a Dark Graphite look. Along with the Ravenna Blue and Indium Grey, it can
be had in an exclusive color called Peacock Green. Interior changes include a
number of titanium black elements and Nappa leather.
