The Porsche 911 Safari is one of the most iconic vehicles from the Stuttgart manufacturer’s stable but to anyone without a seven or eight-figure bank account, is completely unattainable. Fortunately, we have stumbled across a more affordable alternative in the form of a 1987 Porsche 924S prepped for rallying.

The classic German sports car, currently up for sale on Bring A Trailer, has undergone a series of comprehensive modifications to make it unlike any other 924S on earth. It may not have the heritage of a 911 Safari but it certainly looks the part.

According to the listing, the car was partially repainted in its original Guards Red by the seller and then adorned with a number of white and gold vinyl accents. In addition, the 924S includes the front nose and black hood of a 924 Turbo and front and rear bumpers which have been drilled out.

As for the rally-inspired parts, they start with 15-inch Braid Fullrace TR wheels wrapped in 215/75 BFGoodrich KO2 tires. There is also a custom suspension system, a Yakima roof rack and basket, a custom tube frame front nudge bar, RotopaX fuel jugs and mounts, a Warn winch, mud flaps, skid plates, Hella 500 rally LED lights, and a CB radio antenna.

Inside, the seller has equipped the car with a 944 short shift kit, a Momo Monte Carlo steering wheel, Lloys rubber floor mats, a Garmin GPS system, and an auxiliary switch panel with USB ports. Powering the car is a 2.5-liter inline-four cylinder engine pumping out 150 hp and mated to a five-speed manual transmission with a Traction Products limited-slip differential, new timing belt, clutch kit, drive belt, engine mounts, lower crank seal, and crank sensor position sensor.

At the time of writing, the highest bid was sitting at US$ 2,250 with seven days left in the online auction.
