Nissan has opened the order books for of the updated
2020 GT-R Nismo in the UK and, as expected, announced the pricing details too. The most hardcore version of the
GT-R family now starts from £ 174,995. That’s a significant increase of more
than £ 25,000 over the previous Nismo, and places the new one against some
pretty serious competition.
For 2020, the GT-R Nismo comes with a set of
turbochargers straight from the GT3 racer for a sharper response, new bumpers
and roof made out of carbon fiber, a revised titanium exhaust, lighter forged
wheels, carbon brakes and bespoke tires.
Nissan claims that the changes led to the lap time
at its own development track being dropped by 2.5 seconds, which sounds even
more impressive when you find out that the engine output has remained the same
with the outgoing model, at 592 hp.
However, while power is the same, the six-speed
dual-clutch transmission features a new algorithm that enables it to change
cogs more aggressively and quickly.
The new elements on the bodywork also help improve
the cooling of the engine and brakes without increasing drag. The Bilstein
DampTronic shocks are also retuned in both rebound (20% softer) and compression
(5% softer) to match the overall reduction in weight which, according to
Nissan, is 30 kg.
If you feel it is out of your league, or simply too
expensive for what it offers, you can always opt for the 2020 Track Edition,
which is priced from a much more reasonable £ 99,995 and slots in between the
standard GT-R and the range-topping Nismo.
