Nissan has released
the first teaser image of the 2020 Juke, ahead of its debut on September 3rd. The
picture isn’t very revealing, but it shows the crossover will have slender LED
daytime running lights that reside above circular headlights. We can also see a
more prominent grille which echoes the one found on newer models such as the
Rogue and Murano.
Additional styling
details are hard to make out, but it appears the crossover will be equipped
with plastic body cladding and a silver accent beneath the grille. Nissan
didn’t say much about the Juke, but previous spy photos have shown it will
follow in the footsteps of its funky predecessor. In particular, the crossover
will have a rakish windscreen and muscular rear haunches. Other notable
highlights include a sloping roof, a compact greenhouse and an evolutionary
rear end.
The crossover is
expected to be launched early next year and ride on the CMF platform that also
underpins the Renault Clio and Captur. Engine options remain unconfirmed, but
there could a turbocharged 1.3-liter four-cylinder with outputs of 138 hp and 158 hp. Rumors have also indicated there
could be a turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder and a 1.5-liter diesel.
There have also
been reports suggesting the company will offer a plug-in hybrid variant that
uses a 1.6-liter petrol engine, an electric motor and a 9.8 kWh battery pack.
This setup would reportedly enable the model to have an electric-only range in
excess of 30 km.
