Jaguar’s new 2021 F-Type sports car has entered its
public testing phase, getting spotted recently by Carscoops spy photographers while
lapping the Nurburgring Nordschleife. We can begin
by forgetting those rumors that suggested the next F-Type would become a 2+2
model. These images are pretty clear as far as the car’s overall dimensions are
concerned and there definitely doesn’t seem to be any room for backseat
passengers.
The upcoming Jaguar F-Type will clearly feature a
more streamlined design language, utilizing thin horizontal headlights (instead
of the current car’s vertical, swept-back ones) and a large grille upfront,
almost reminiscent of the Aston Martin Vantage.
We could say that it’s a somewhat subtle look, but
we won’t know that for a fact until the camouflage actually comes off and we
can see the front fascia undisguised. The rest of the body is rather
recognizable as an F-Type, especially if we consider the rear end, which looks
almost the same as it does now, only a bit more modern. The taillight graphics
point to this being a Jaguar from a mile away.
The prototypes spotted here clearly feature
different specs. For starters, we have both the Coupe as well as the
Convertible undergoing testing, where with the Coupes, one car features quad
exhaust pipes at the rear, whereas the other has a single large central
exhaust. It’s safe to say that the 2021 F-Type will not be going
fully-electric, at least not exclusively.
As for what we can expect from the interior,
Jaguar’s latest infotainment tech is a given, along with updated materials and
improved active safety. The British sports car maker will launch the new F-Type either in
2021 or sometime next year as a 2021 model.
