The upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe has been spied in the midst of testing near the company’s plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. These images, snapped by Carscoops reader Matthew Eldridge, show the GLE Coupe wrapped in black and white camouflage. These images appear to show the vehicle with a near production-spec front bumper and no camouflage on the front driver and passenger-side doors.

It is difficult to determine what exact GLE Coupe model we’re looking at but the lack of quad tailpipes reveals that it is not a performance-oriented AMG model. A photo snapped of the interior shows that the cabin will be virtually identical to the standard GLE model and include prominent grab handles for the driver and passenger on the center console.

We expect the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe to be sold with the same range of engines as the standard model. Consequently, buyers in the U.S. will likely have GLE 350, GLE 350 4Matic, and GLE 450 4Matic models at their disposal from launch. The first two of these use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 255 hp and 370 Nm of torque while the GLE 450 4Matic is powered by a more potent 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder with EQ Boost 48-volt technology and 362 hp and 500 Nm of torque.

A GLE 580 Coupe may also be available with a biturbo 4.0-liter V8 engine with EQ Boost tech to pump out 483 hp and 700 Nm of torque. European markets will also be offered in the new GLE Coupe in a handful of diesel guises. There may also be a GLE 53 Coupe. The range will be topped out by the GLE 63 Coupe and GLE 63 S Coupe models with 563 hp and 603 hp respectively.
