Ducati has launched
the Multistrada 1260 Enduro in India. The adventure tourer from the Italian
brand has been priced at INR 19.99 lakh* (Ducati Red) and INR 20.23 lakh*
(Sand). In comparison, the standard Multistrada 1260 retails INR 17.80 lakh*.
The “Enduro” badge
brings several features that are aimed to make the Ducati Multistrada 1260 more
off-road ready than the standard model. In terms of dimensions, the Ducati
Multistrada 1260 Enduro comes with a lower seat, handlebar and centre of
gravity than the Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro. The seat height has come down
to 840 mm – 880 mm on the new model.
The 1260 Enduro
isn’t very different from its predecessor in terms of styling, although the
mechanical specifications have received a massive upgrade. The new iteration of
Ducati’s go-anywhere motorcycle draws power from 1,262 cc L-Twin cylinder,
liquid-cooled, Dual Spark, Ducati Testastretta DVT (Desmodromic Variable
Timing) engine. The motor delivers 157.7 PS of max power at 9,500 rpm and 128
Nm of peak torque at 7,500 engine revs. The six-speed transmission benefits
from with Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) for clutchless shifts (up/down).
The Multistrada
1260 Enduro features a colossal 30-litre fuel tank that is claimed to deliver a
range of 450 km between fuel stops. The Enduro comes with a service interval of
15,000 km/12 months – whichever comes before.
Unlike the
road-biased Multistrada 1260 that uses 17-inch wheels on both ends, the Enduro
version comes with 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels with cross-spoke
design. The cross-spoke layout comes with the convenience of tubeless tyres to
the motorcycle, which is easier to fix than conventional tube tyres. The Enduro
comes with Ducati Skyhook Suspension Evo (DSS) electronic semi-active
suspension as standard. Ducati has recalibrated the units for off-road biased
motorcycle.
The electronics
package of the Multistrada 1260 Enduro includes Riding Modes, Power Modes,
Vehicle Hold Control, Bosch Cornering ABS, Traction Control, Wheelie Control
and Cornering Lights. The Enduro shares its 5-inch TFT colour display with the
Multistrada 1260 S. The console works with Ducati Multimedia System (DMS) to
connect to a smartphone via Bluetooth and access various functions like music,
incoming calls and text messaging via the switchgear. The motorcycle comes with
keyless ignition.
All the Riding
Modes could be customised via a smartphone using the Ducati Link App. The
smartphone application also records aspects such as performance and routes.
Ducati will offer optional accessories and packages along with the Multistrada
1260 Enduro to further customise the motorcycle.
