The one-off SC18 Alston is the first model created
by Lamborghini’s Squadra Corse motorsport division and this is the first time
the Aventador-based creation shows up in public, at the Goodwood Festival of
Speed. Carfection takes us for a brief tour around the bespoke Lamborghini,
which despite being optimised mainly for track use, it remains fully
road-legal.
Wherever you look, you notice the obvious motorsport
influence on the sharp body; from the front S-ducts that are inspired by those
on the Huracan GT3, to the roof-mounted air intake and from the huge rear
diffuser and fixed wing to the Centenario’s rear LED lights.
Power is still provided by the naturally aspirated
6.5-liter V12 engine, tuned to produce the same 759 hp and 720 Nm of torque you’ll find in the Aventador SVJ. Lamborghini
didn’t announce any performance figures, but it’s safe to assume that this is
one rather fast car.
The interior is again mostly Aventador, with carbon
fiber covering most surfaces and the big tablet-like touchscreen system that
was used in the Centenario and the Huracan Evo. Lamborghini says that the SC18
Alston is even more aggressive than the SVJ, offering even more grip and
stability while the throttle response is even more race car-like than the model
it’s based on.
