BMW has announced pricing for the 2020 X1 in the
United States, shortly after similar details were shared for the Australian and
European markets. The sole variant of the new X1 sold in the United States is the
sDrive28i and xDrive28i models. Both are fitted with a 2.0-liter turbocharged
inline-four engine delivering 228 hp and the only difference between the pair
is that the sDrive28i is front-wheel drive and the xDrive28i is all-wheel
drive. The duo share an eight-speed automatic transmission.
BMW says the all-wheel drive model can reach 96 km/h in a respectable 6.3 seconds, not that we can imagine many owners
will ever test out the vehicle’s straight-line performance. Those looking to pick up an X1
sDrive28i will need to part ways with US$ 36,195, a US$ 250 price jump over the
pre-facelift model. Similarly, the xDrive28i jumps up by US$ 250 to US$ 38,195. Other
markets, such as Australia, also receive the new X1 in sDrive18i, sDrive18d,
sDrive20i, and xDrive25i guises where local prices vary between AUD 44,500
(US$ 31,320) and AUD 62,900 (US$ 44,270).
Buyers in the United States can choose to have their
sDrive28i or xDrive28i models fitted with an available M Sport package and for
the 2020 model year, have three additional color options to choose from; Jucaro
Beige, Misano Blue, and Storm Bay. Estoril Blue has been dropped.
All models receive an 8.8-inch infotainment screen
as standard complete with navigation and Apple CarPlay. The duo can be
purchased with leather upholstery not just on the seats but also on the lower
dash and door panels.
