Fresh spy shots of the 2020 Hyundai Verna have
surfaced online. The latest images were snapped in South Korea and give a look
at the interior of the facelifted sedan as well.
The exterior design suggests that this is the Chinese-spec
2020 Hyundai Verna. The fifth-gen model was launched in China first, and so,
naturally, it will get a facelift in that market first worldwide. The interior
spy shot reveals that there will be a new infotainment system with a bigger
display in the updated model. Apart from that, the overall design looks the
same.
On the outside, the 2020 Hyundai Verna will feature an entirely new front-end which is reminiscent of the Hyundai
Lafesta. Previous spy shots have revealed that there will be a new radiator
grille, headlamps, bumper and headlamps. The range-topping grade could feature
LED headlamps. Overall, the front fascia will look much sharper and brawnier
than before. On the sides, the only change will be new alloy wheel options. The
rear-end will have new, connected tail lamps in a design not as well-executed
as in the case of the Lafesta and the Sonata. Overall, the new exterior design
may be polarizing.
There is a good chance that like the pre-facelift
model, the facelifted model will have a slightly different design in India. In terms of mechanicals, the
Chinese-spec Hyundai Verna comes with naturally aspirated 1.4- and 1.6-litre
D-CVVT petrol engines. The 1.4-litre engine churns out 99 PS of
maximum power and 132 Nm of peak torque and can be had with a 6-speed manual
transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 1.6-litre engine delivers 122 PS and 150 Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed automatic
transmission. It will gain a CVT with the facelift. The India-spec sedan will
switch to all-new, BS-VI 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines, and it may also
gain a CVT option.
Expect the 2020 Hyundai Verna (facelift) to be
launched in China by the end of 2019, with India getting its own facelifted
version a few months later, by April 2020.
