Toyota has no plans
of selling the all-new 2020 Supra with anything other than an eight-speed
transmission but fortunately, tuning shop European Auto Group has announced it
will offer six-speed manual conversions for the sports car.
During a recent
interview with Car Buzz, the owner of European Auto Group, Art Bartosik,
revealed that the company is taking customer deposits for those looking to have
a Supra where they can row their own gears.
According to EAG,
converting a Toyota Supra from an automatic to a manual will cost about $12,000
for parts and labor. That’s a lot of money but those considering spending the
money can rest easy in the knowledge that the tuner will only use OEM parts
from BMW.
Powering the Toyota
Supra is BMW’s desirable 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six B58 engine and while
neither Toyota nor BMW offer it alongside a manual ‘box in the Supra or Z4
M40i, there is a six-speed manual that works with the B58. For example, cars
like the BMW 340i and M240i are fitted with B58 engines and available with
manual transmissions so sourcing parts shouldn’t be too much trouble for EAG.
In addition to
performing a transmissions swap, the tuner says it will work alongside Canadian
company ProTuning Freaks to work on a power upgrade package for the sports car
that promises to increase power from the standard 335 hp to 420-430 hp at the
wheels. The swap will likely void the Supra’s warranty but EAG says it is
looking into a four-year/50,000 mile warranty to cover the cars which it
converts.

its first manual 2020 Toyota Supra at November’s SEMA Show in Las Vegas.
