Wey – an automotive sub-brand owned by the Great
Wall – is barely three years old, but is already refreshing its model range.
The 2020 Wey VV7 crossover/SUV debuts today with a new coupe version called GT.
You may tell the facelifted SUV from its predecessor
thanks to a prominent new radiator grille, new wheels and bumpers. The top trim
version now also ships with adaptive laser headlights. The cabin looks quite similar to
that of the P8 GT Hybrid. In particular, the center tunnel and the multimedia
system with its huge 12.3-inch touchscreen display and driver recognition
system look identical.
In its most basic form, the Wey VV7 comes equipped
with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine rated at 234 hp, mated to a
seven-speed DCT. The GT Coupe version packs the same engine, albeit with only
227 hp at its disposal. On the other hand, the coupe has Launch
Control and an engine sound imitation module.
Sales in China begin in November. Prices are still
pending; the current VV7 costs US$ 24,000 and above.
