Exeed, a premium car marque established by Chinese manufacturer Chery in 2018, has introduced its second vehicle: a crossover/SUV called the LX.

The marque’s first model is the Exeed TX (and its long-wheelbase version, the TXL). It is a mid-size SUV reportedly based on a brand-new platform called the M3X with ‘some Land Rover tech’ inside.

The new LX is said to be based on the Chery Tiggo 7. The two indeed share the same chassis design and wheelbase (2,670 mm). They also look similar to each other on the outside. But while the Tiggo 7 is marketed as a highly affordable crossover SUV, the LX is supposed to be premium. Exeed went to some lengths here, designing a complex radiator grill e with vertical fins, LED headlights and an original 19-inch wheel set.

The Exeed LX sports a brand-new interior with imitation wood inserts, leather-draped seats, and two 12.3-inch displays – just like in the more recent Mercedes models. Climate controls are located on a dedicated touch-sensitive panel with rotary knobs next to it.

Available equipment includes automatic parking, 360-degree cameras, adaptive cruise control, lane control, and more. Powering the LX is the 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine of its TX predecessor. The transmission is seven-speed DCT, and the torque goes to the front wheels no matter what.

The new Exeed LX will become available in China in September. The company says it might consider releasing it outside of China as well.
