The Geely Binyue is slated to enter the Philippines
market as the Coolray in the fourth quarter of this year, according to
Wheels.ph. This will go on sale in the Philippines fully imported from China,
and will be sold for between 1.2 million to 1.3 million pesos via Sojitz Auto Philippines, the local distributor for
Geely in the country.
The Philippines-market Coolray will be powered by a
1.5 litre turbo petrol engine producing 177 hp and 255 Nm of torque, sent to a
seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. Driver assistance technologies are
expected in the Coolray, including a 360-degree view monitor with four exterior
cameras and an automatic parking assist feature.
Though the model that many has tentatively called
the X50 has already been spotted running road trials in the country, these have
been left-hand-drive models, meaning they are still some way off ready for sale
in Malaysia; approximately a year, according to Proton’s product launch strategy
as shown at the launch of the 2019 Saga facelift.
