Chinese car manufacturer Great Wall has launched a new pickup truck model called the Pao. Let us see what is on offer this time around.

The car is based on the unified architecture of the Haval H9. It features a solid rear axle, an on-demand AWD system with a step-down gear, and spring-based suspension. At 5,410 mm long with 3,230 mm of wheelbase, it is slightly longer than the Toyota Hilux and the Ford Ranger.

The aggressive-looking headlights and the chrome-coated front grille with massive vertical fins and a new, ring-shaped company logo are perhaps the main exterior features. Lift the hood cover to be greeted by a two-liter gasoline engine rated at 190 hp and 360 Nm of torque, mated to a ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox.

Right now, customers may purchase the Pao with a crew cab and a square truck bed measuring 1,520 x 1,520 mm. Later on, another version will arrive featuring a single cab, a longer bed and a diesel engine.

Options list for the Great Wall Pao includes such entries as leather finish for the cabin, six airbags, an entertainment system with a touch-enabled display, a digital dashboard, power-assisted front seats, and adaptive cruise control.

Prices begin at US$ 18,000 in China. International sales are also in the plans, with the Latin America, Australia and Africa markets coming up next.
