Suzuki may introduce a new Burgman variant with a
180 cc engine, claims Indonesian motoring website, Iwanbanaran. Enthusiasts
would know that Suzuki already has 125 cc, 200 cc, 400 cc and 650 cc variants
of the Burgman family.
The Suzuki Burgman 180 will be developed by Suzuki
Motor Japan before it is sent out for testing in the target markets. The details
of this project are very limited. However, the source website suggests that the
upcoming Burgman 180 may draw styling cues from the Burgman 400. The Japanese
two-wheeler brand does not have a 180 cc motor in its portfolio, and thus, the
upcoming Burgman 180 will use an all-new engine.
The 180 cc mill should use a single-cylinder,
air-cooled layout. The stricter environment laws will bring features like fuel
injection technology as standard fitment. A 180 cc Suzuki will most likely
arrive in the Indian market, given the government’s aggressive plans of mass
electrification of all two-wheelers under the 150 cc of displacement.
Hardware specifications on the current Burgman
Street 125 are solid, and the 180 cc variant, if launched, should carry the
same features. Thus, expect to see telescopic front forks, LED headlight and
taillight, digital instrument console, large boot-space and a glovebox. Braking
department will most likely retain the front disc, rear drum layout from the
Burgman Street 125, although the 180 cc variant will require the safety net of
ABS in our market. The product is yet to be confirmed by Suzuki Motor Japan,
and we do not expect to see the production-spec model soon.
