A month after Tata Motors introduced new features in the Nexon, it has rolled out another silent update. This time, the range has been revised to include a new XT+ variant as a replacement for the XT variant, the 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system has been replaced with a 7-inch unit and the equipment offered in other variants has been revised.

The 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system was offered in the XZ, XZ+ and XZA+ variants of the Tata Nexon. The new, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system is also available in the same variants. It offers improved touch-response and an aesthetically better UI.

The XT+ variant costs INR 7,000 more than the XT variant, irrespective of the engine option selected. It is priced at INR 8.02 lakh* in the 1.2L petrol engine model and INR 8.87 lakh* in the 1.5L diesel engine model. Unlike the discontinued variant, the new variant's equipment list includes projector headlamps with LED DRLs, 8-speaker sound system, height-adjustable driver seat and front fog lamps.

Tata Motors has replaced the rear air vents with rear AC vents and deleted the airflow adjust knob. Rear air vents were included in the XT, XZ, XZ+ and XZA+ variants. Rear AC vents are included in the XT+, XZ, XZ+ and XZA+ variants. The XZ variant has gained DRLs and front fog lamps but has switched from automatic climate control to manual climate control. Speaking of deletions, while the XT grade featured automatic climate control and shark-fin antenna, the XT+ grade features manual climate control and a pole antenna.

The latest update has not brought any mechanical changes to the Tata Nexon. The 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine still generates 110 PS of power and 170 Nm of peak torque. The 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine continues to delivers 110 PS and 260 Nm of peak torque. 6-speed manual and 6-speed automated manual are the transmission choices.

The Nexon has been quite a successful product for the company and only a few days back, Tata rolled out 100,000th Nexon within 2 years of its launch. It competes with the Maruti Vitara Brezza, the Ford EcoSport, the Mahindra XUV300 and the newly launched Hyundai Venue. Its prices range from INR 6.58-11.00 lakh*. A BS-VI Tata Nexon with a new steering wheel and cruise control is in the works and it will be launched by early next year.
