The new Polo GTI is
quite competent in its class, but if, for whatever reason, any owner wants to
mix it with sports cars, they might want to get in touch with Siemoneit Racing
and ask for their Stage 3 upgrade. The German tuner will install a larger
turbocharger and intercooler, optimize the air intake and other parts and add a
new exhaust system with Euro 6 catalysts and controlled flaps.
They will then
remap the engine software and, when everything will be fine-tuned, the
2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder will produce a non-too-shabby 320 PS and 430 Nm of torque.
The 120 PS and 110 Nm of torque increase over the stock Polo GTI has
shaved half a second from the 0-100 km/h sprint, which according to
VW takes 6.7 seconds, and top speed has gone up from 247 to 256 km/h.
Siemoneit Racing
recommends getting their 18-inch wheels, shod in 215/40 rubber, as well as a KW
suspension they offer, in order to better exploit those extra horses. Finally,
they can also fit Recaro sport seats, Sabelt seatbelts and Weichers Sport roll
bars.
A couple of more
modest technical upgrades are also available for the hot supermini, which bump
the output to 245 PS or 250 PS. In terms of pricing, the lesser power bumps cost just € 598 and
€ 698, whereas Stage 3 will burn an considerable
€ 8,998 hole in your pocket. The rest of the aftermarket parts will
set you back € 11,630.
