Back in 1959, production of the classic Mini began
in the United Kingdom. 60 years later, the company, which moved under the BMW
Group’s protective wing in 1994, celebrated an important milestone: the 10
millionth car produced.
Dressed in the Cooper S 60 Years Edition guise, the
vehicle rolled off the assembly line in Oxford last month and is now being
displayed at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, alongside other premieres. Like all Cooper S 60 Years
Edition cars, the 10 millionth Mini boasts a British Racing Green IV paint
scheme and gets bonnet stripes, black roof and side mirror caps and piano black
trim. It also displays its production number on the doors and rear bumper and
gets additional spot lights at the front, ’60 Years’ emblems and 17-inch alloy
wheels with an exclusive design.
Brown leather with white contrast stitching and
green piping is found on the seats, whereas the ’60 Years’ emblem can further
be seen on the sill plates, steering wheel and backrests. The 8.8-inch
infotainment system, wireless charging pad, Comfort Plus Pack, ambient
lighting, Park Distance Control, folding side mirrors, LED lights at both ends,
automatic headlamps and windscreen wipers and others won’t cost you anything on
top of the base price of the car, which is £ 29,990 in the UK.
All 500 units allocated for Great Britain, as well
as the ones aimed at other markets, pack the 2.0-liter, turbocharged engine of
the regular Cooper S, with 192 PS.
