The 2020 BMW X6 debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show a few days ago, but that hasn’t stopped the company from teasing the upcoming X6 M. Filmed at the BMW test center in Miramas, France, the clip stars Matthias Malmedie who takes a spin in a prototype of the X6 M Competition.

The video starts off pretty slow, but Malmedie eventually meets up with Rainer who is the total vehicle project lead for the X5 M and X6 M. They then take a look at a heavily camouflaged prototype which features a massive grille and a revised front bumper with larger air intakes. The crossover also has front fender vents, a four-tailpipe sports exhaust system and a small rear spoiler.

The duo then takes a look inside. The cabin largely carries over from the X6, but there are handful of unique touches which are masked in the video. They apparently include a unique shifter, M-branded door sill plates and headrests with special embroidery. Drivers can also expect a 12.3-inch digital instrument, a 12.3-inch infotainment system and a leather-wrapped M steering wheel with contrast stitching.

After examining the crossover, Malmedie meets up with Bernd and the pair hit the track. While the clip doesn’t reveal performance specifications, Bernd hints the model has improved off-road capability. The video is short on details, but the X6 M is expected to have a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine that produces 592 hp and 750 Nm of torque. The X6 M Competition will be even more powerful as it’s slated to have 617 hp.
