Mercedes-AMG launched the E63 less than three years
ago, yet, as is the trend in the industry, is already working on a revamped version,
which was spied testing on and around the Nurburgring recently, in Sedan and
Estate body styles.
It’s very hard to tell whether the front bumper sports
any changes, but we’re tempted to say it does. The headlights and taillights
probably feature different graphics, too, whereas the diffuser and rear bumper
are now separated by a chrome strip. The quad exhaust tips seem to have
remained the same, while new alloys with reworked patterns will round up the
updated looks.
We still cannot catch a glimpse inside, but we
believe the 2020 E63 will get the latest version of the MBUX system, complete
with the new touchpad, as well as an updated center console and steering wheel. Other details remain scarce, but
we wouldn’t be surprised if AMG bumps up the output of its 4.0-liter,
twin-turbo V8, which in the current E63 and E63 S develops 571 PS and 750 Nm of torque, and 612 PS and 850 Nm, respectively.
With the unveiling of the updated E63 models, which
should take place next year, Mercedes-AMG will take on the BMW M5 and Audi RS6
Avant with new vigor – and, as you can imagine, we can’t wait to see them go
against each other.
