The Beijing BJ40 body-on-frame SUV debuted in 2013. the car was originally only available as a two-door removable-top SUV, but an SWB pickup truck and a four-door model called the BJ40L/Plus followed soon afterwards. Today, the pickup version gets a minor update along with a new name: the Beijing F40.

Aesthetic differences boil down to the radiator grille, which is now chrome-coated, and the cabin trim, which now uses cloth upholstery instead of leather. Curiously, the launch photos still show the Beijing F40 sporting a ‘BJ40’ badge at the rear end. The dimensions stay unchanged at 4,350 mm long, 2,450 mm wheelbase and 1,050 mm x 1,050 mm of truck bed space. The roof is removable, like before.

The chassis of the car is identical to that used by the latest BJ40 Plus SUV, which basically means independent spring suspension up front and a solid axle at the rear. The only available drive configuration is part-time AWD with reduction gear.

Powering the vehicle is a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder Saab engine reportedly good for 231 hp and 345 Nm of torque. A six-speed Aisin gearbox fills out the role of automatic transmission.
