Chinese automaker
BYD has made entry into India's electric van segment with the introduction of
the T3 pure electric passenger MPV and the T3 pure electric commercial
logistics minivan. The company is yet to put these models on sale.
Byd says that T3
MPV and T3 minivan models come with its proprietary battery technology and they
demand just 1.5 hours for 100% charging using DC charger. The vehicles also
support standard AC chargers. The range of both the vehicles is claimed to be
300 km, and this, by any standard, is definitely commendable.
Both the T3 MPV and
T3 minivan models come with a number of comfort and convenience features such
as keyless entry, push-button start, a music system with Bluetooth
connectivity, reverse parking camera and sensors, and also offer well-designed
spaces for cargo storage. Furthermore, their safety kit includes features like
Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electric Parking System (EPB), Brake Override
System (BOS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and more.
The vehicles
feature regenerative braking system which saves energy on the move, and also
thus improves range. Along with that, these vehicles also come with a
communication network system called Controller Area Network (CAN) bus communication
system which provides smart management and maintenance.
The company claims
that both T3 MPV and T3 minivan are capable enough to save fuel consumption and
emissions equal to five passenger cars, and thus can effectively save the cost
of urban logistics distribution.
