Datsun previously updated the GO and GO+ with new safety features and infotainment system this year. Next, the company will launch a CVT option for both the models by October 2019. The unveiling of both the CVT equipped models will be done later this month.

The Datsun GO CVT and Datsun GO+ CVT should feature a distinctive CVT badge. Mechanically, there may not be any other change apart from the new transmission. Both the models would source power from the same 1.2-litre naturally aspirated three-cylinder petrol engine which is rated to deliver 68 PS of maximum power at 5,000 rpm and 104 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm. Currently, there is only a single transmission option of a 5-speed manual unit. The manual transmission-equipped hatchback and MPV deliver the same ARAI-rated fuel economy of 19.83 km/l.

The launch of the CVT option is targeted at generating new interest in the Datsun GO and GO+ as automatic transmission-equipped are experiencing a steady rise in demand in the country. Models in their segment generally end up getting cheaper and more frugal AMT.

The Datsun GO and Datsun GO+ both now come loaded with safety features such as anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brake force distribution (EBD), brake assist (BA) traction control system (TCS), engine immobiliser, rear parking sensors and dual front airbags as standard. With the last update, they also gained Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) safety feature which continuously monitors wheel velocity, steering wheel position and lateral acceleration via onboard sensors for enhanced stability and control.

The Datsun GO range starts at INR 3,32,078 while the bigger, GO+ range retails at INR 3,86,588 onwards, both prices ex-showroom, Delhi. The prices of the new models will be slightly higher in comparison to the present MT variants. More details on the updated models will be made available post the official reveal later in September.
