Ferrari will be
blowing the roof off the F8 Tributo and 812 Superfast, with a couple of
paperweights announcing their alleged imminent reveal. Posted on Instagram
by Trax_X, the two paperweights, said to have replaced the typical scale models
offered as gifts, preview the design of what Ferrari calls the ‘New V8 Spider’
and ‘New V12 Spider’. The V8 Spider will be the open-top version of the F8
Tributo and it could be called the F8 Tributo Spider or F8 Spider.
The official
successor of the 488 Spider will put the same 3.9-liter, twin-turbo V8 to use
as its fixed-roof sibling, where it produces 720 PS and 770
Nm of torque. Performance should be almost identical, with the F8
Tributo needing 2.9 seconds to sprint to 100 km/h, before maxing out
at 340 km/h.
Moving on to what
is believed to have been named either the 812 Superfast Spider, 812 Spider or
as suggested by a member of the FerrariChatForum, the 812 GTS, this front
mid-engined, rear-wheel drive convertible supercar will be the louder model of
the two, as it will adopt an old-school 6.5-liter, naturally aspirated V12. In
the 812 Superfast, the mill churns out 800 PS and 718 Nm of torque, which results in performance specs identical to the F8
Tributo.
If the information
pans out, then we should see Ferrari’s new Spiders out sometime this month.
According to the official exhibitor list, Ferrari won’t be attending the 2019
Frankfurt Motor Show, so the official unveiling will likely take place in
Maranello.
